Internet on the move

The mobile internet is moving fast. Our client was working on behalf of a major mobile provider and needed some inspiration designing a new mobile web portal that would fulfill consumers’ needs and preferences.

We conducted a multi-stage project, beginning with an online survey of mobile users to get a feel for trends in the market. We then followed up with telephone interviews to explore the content and services consumers wanted to see in this developing area. We even made a film, entitled ‘Days in the life’, with ten mobile web users recording how their usage fitted into their daily lives.

Drawing on the three stages of our work, we were able to provide tangible recommendations on how our client should develop the web portal, particularly around the activities which the mobile web could support, as well as the content and services to give clients exactly what they want.
