Revolutionising NVQ assessment
Assessing students isn’t just nerve-wracking for candidates. Our client, the Association of Colleges in the Eastern Region (ACER) had some concerns around current methods of NVQ assessment and wanted to investigate viable alternatives to the existing system.
We firstly conducted desk research to assess the pros and cons of the current paper-based method, as well as carrying out telephone interviews with relevant bodies. We then sought to identify alternative methods and evaluated these through further qualitative research. Finally, we held three stakeholder workshops attended by private and public sector assessors to test out our recommendations.
In the end we recommended electronic portfolio assessment as an alternative to the current paper-based system. We provided ACER with suggestions as to how best introduce this new system. We’re continuing to work closely with ACER as they revolutionise NVQs for hundreds of students across the region
